We joined in with the movement to bring colourful rainbows and hearts to the world with a colourful window display of rainbow coloured hearts. We hope it brings a smile to lots of faces when passing our shop during a walk outside.
The display was made from a mix of cut-out paper hearts and poster painted hearts and includes the message ‘The world came together…as the people stayed apart’. 🙂
Thank you to Charlotte at Charm Tree Studio for all the hard work put into creating our lovely display.
We’ve even inspired some of our customers to copy!
Let us know if you’ve been inspired by our window or if it’s brightened up your day.
It was a very sad decision for us to have to close the Cakery due to the recent Corona Virus outbreak but we know its the best thing to do for the safety on our staff and customers. Despite having to close a lot of essential local businesses and services have continued and we’ve been so moved by the hard work that others are putting in to keep us all safe, to keep us fed and keep essential services running. The people of the UK and the local community are doing amazing things and we are so thankful!
Before closing we had some requests to provide cakes for NHS workers at Warwick Hospital and were told that these really helped to lift spirits..since then we have had more requests come in so we felt that the best thing to do was to open up the service to all key workers in the community so that we can share the joy to more people who deserve a treat. We are continuing to provide cakes to the Warwick Hospital teams through The Barn Kitchen which is an amazing service providing deliveries of all sorts of food to NHS workers and vulnerable people throughout Warwickshire.
We are now taking nominations for deliveries of cakes to key workers so if you know someone that deserves a treat for their hard work, get in touch. We are taking nominations on social media (Instagram, Facebook ) or you can send us an email: gemma@thecakeryleamington.co.uk
All deliveries must be to a public building or home address within 10 miles of The Cakery in Leamington town centre and we must be able to make the delivery contactless. We cannot take deliveries inside the building so please keep this in mind when nominating.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…so we thought we should let you know when we’ll be open and closed over the festive period. We’ll be open up until midday on Christmas eve for cake pick-ups and then we are taking a break for a week. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and hope to see you again in the new year. Merry Christmas! 🙂
The traditional wedding cake is typically iced in white or ivory icing, decorated with intricate details of flowers and swags, but the latest trend has given wedding cakes a serious make-under, perfect if your not a fan of icing.
Introducing the “naked” wedding cake – a cake without an outer layer of icing or buttercream, leaving the texture of the sponge cake layers to be revealed. The cakes have a fuss-free, rustic feel which will appeal to brides opting for a rustic, shabby chic wedding theme or those who are just looking for an alternative to the traditional iced wedding cake.
Chef Christina Tosi is credited with starting the trend and apparently the aim was to show off the delicious inside of the cake instead of covering it with a fancy icing exterior.
Naked cakes can be decorated with a variety of alternatives to traditional icing – fruit, berries, fresh flowers or drizzled frosting are popular choices. They can also come in a variety, or even a mixture of flavours. A cute cake topper can finish off a naked cake nicely – we love the cute bunting on this cake by The Cakery…
We also love this wooden cut-out, personalised ‘Mr & Mrs’ cake topper which works perfectly with the ‘rustic’ style.
Blue and gold is one of the latest trends for wedding cakes and looks to be still very popular for 2019. As the traditional rhyme says, the bride should always have something blue for her wedding day…why not make it the wedding cake with a stunning blue cake with metallic details.
Choose from something simple and classic with shiny gold coating…
Add blue marble effect for a really striking look, with pretty peonies…
…or go for something more rustic with ombre effect and fresh flowers.
This design from The Cakery features dark navy icing with brushed gold, gold sequins and navy roses, making a show-stopping centrepiece.
For everyone that wants to be a mermaid…could this just be the best cake you’ve ever seen!? Covered in shells, under-the-sea swirls, sparkles and mermaid tails, the cake was paired with loads of matching mermaid cupcakes in beautiful bright colours. They almost look too good to eat!
Just added! …This adorable ombre cake with mermaid decoration. This cake was 100% vegan but can be made in any flavour of cake you would prefer.

Unicorns are all the rage and what could be more magical than a unicorn themed birthday party. Unicorn cupcakes and birthday cakes are very popular for both children and adults that don’t want to grow up. Here are some unicorn cakes we’ve created at The Cakery in the past few weeks.
A unicorn party wouldn’t be complete without rainbows…so these rainbow swirl cupcakes are the perfect accompaniment for a unicorn cake on your party table.
Or why not add some flamingos into the mix with some flamingo and unicorn cupcakes? So cute!
We love these beautiful photos of one of our rustic wedding cakes photographed by Rebecca Walters. The colours of the cake and the flowers against the setting looks stunning…what a beautiful wedding it must have been. View more of her wedding photography on her website.
